Every now and then, my Google Alert notifies me that an authorized copy of one of my books has been uploaded to a “free download” site, and is thus in violation of copyright laws and infringing on my copyright. There’s a process that authors can use to get such bootlegged copies removed. You submit a “DMCA Takedown Notice” (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) to the offending site, and by law, at least in theory, they are required to remove the copy from their website. I noticed such an infringement on one of my books, but haven’t gotten around to submitting the notice. Why am I not in a rush to do this? Well, it may seem counter-intuitive, but as I often explain in my Writer’s Workshops, sometimes the availability of a free digital edition actually increases sales of the physical edition.

Now that I’ve created the first two episodes in the Jamaican in China campaign, I can now add the form to the jamaicaninchina.com blog so folks can subscribe and relive my adventures in China, Singapore, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Macau and Hong Kong. Seems I (and many other folks) may not be traveling for a while, so this may be the next best thing!

NOTE TO SELF: One of the things I need to start doing in my outgoing emails and blog posts is to warn people (and pandemicpreneurs of all strupes) of the danger of relying too heavily on platforms like Facebook and Twitter as the sole means of communicating with followers. Email is still at the moment a reliable fallback (and should even be the “Plan A”). Think about it from a marketers point of view. Even though I may have 1,000 people who follow my page on Facebook, I am not guaranteed that ANY of them will see my posts in their feed. If I wish to increase the “people reached” statistic on Facebook, I have to pay money to “boost” the post. Email, on the other hand, typically gets through to those to whom I send it (unless it ends up in a spam folder, but even then, it’s still retrievable). The other thing to consider is “what happens in a scenario in which Mr. Zuckerberg and/or any of his cronies fall out of favor with public sentiment, and people decide to boycott or “cancel” a social media platform?” All your social media contacts, and the means to reach them are “owned” by the platform.

As I always say, “any plan (or strategy) that relies on the actions, generosity, whim or largess of a single individual or entity for its progress from point a to point b is FLAWED plan!”

Yes, I actually wrote some content for the Pandemicpreneur book! This is a chapter on how most of my operating expenses are as close to zero as possible!

One of the companies from which I order anti-parasite supplements has a weekly Q&A zoom workshop. I was up before 4:00am anyway, so I tuned in!

A hot topic on Youtube these days is the “Red Pill” concept and the MGTOW movement within the male-female dating scene in (primarily) western countries. In watching some of these videos, I realized that my book, Masculinity 2.0, actually touches on some of the same topics, so I decided to add those terms to the website description so that my site www.masculinity2.com might show up in searches in 2020 and beyond.

DONE- modified my entries on https://blogs.jamaicans.com/author/jamaicaninchina/
While checking on some of the past articles I’ve written for other blogs, I realized that there were some articles on the Jamaicans.com website that have been incorrectly attributed to me. I contacted the webmaster a few days ago and he replied with a userid and password with which I can make the necessary corrections. So, over the next few days, I’ll be modifying the approx 200 articles I wrote on that platform! The work never ends!

DONE- re-install Mautic 3.1.0
Most of the day, however, has been spent waiting for 12,000+ files to upload so I could re-install the latest version of the Mautic contact management software (3.1) to see if the glitches I came across in earlier versions have been fixed.

DONE- ran some errands around town (food shopping, getting gas, checking mailbox)

CORRECTION: The “Sun Chasin’ Success” podcast I mentioned in the previous update mentions the host by name. That name (correctly spelled) is BAYO OLORUNTO, a former mainland US resident who escaped from America to live in Brazil! Again, check out Bayo’s podcast episodes at

FINALLY: In case you’re wondering “how’s the book coming along?”
Even though I haven’t actually written any content for The Pandemicpreneur in a few days, this time of contemplation is just as important. Think of it as a “gestation” period. Every time I look at the website, or at the book cover, or at the task list, or even if I simply think about the book in its physical (and digital) forms, it evolves a little more–imperceptibly perhaps, but it does.

I’m also listening carefully for clues from the universe that help the book write itself. For example, after I did the interview with Bayo for the “Sun Chasin’ Success” podcast–during which I mentioned upcoming projects–he made a great suggestion of a chapter I might wish to include in the finished product. Of course, I added the suggestion to my ongoing task list, and that simple act will have an effect on the end product.

Spent most of the day configuring and coding php files and searching online forums (like stackoverflow.com) to get the installation of the Mautic contact management software to function correctly on my server (see software at www.mautic.org)

DONE- complete Smashwords update
